Grateful for Fall

I am grateful for fall. I love fall. The falling temperatures and low humidity make being outside enjoyable – bonfires, football, gardening, apple orchards, hanging out with the neighbors... On the outside of our house, I see the mums and pumpkins that adorn the porch. I also see the weeds that have overtaken part of the landscaping. Maybe that is nature’s way of getting us outside – Come, enjoy the outside and make me pretty again before winter covers me with a blanket of snow.

This year I decided to go with yellow mums and a few pumpkins. The smallest is a pie pumpkin. I talked with the grower at farmer’s market and she said the oblong one is just a jack-o-lantern pumpkin. I wrapped the mum containers with a little bit of burlap and twine and then a little bit of grapevine

For my front door, I chose to keep it very simple with a gold “S” and a beautiful ribbon that is a brown and orange faux bois.

Do you love fall, too? What are you grateful for about the season?

  1. Very pretty! I love your simple "S". I think your front door is beautiful. Love the grain of the wood and the hardware.

    I love Fall, too.

Right now I am grateful for a recent negative pathology report. Malignant Melanoma sucks. Had a fourth spot removed September 20th, results were benign. So yeah, pretty grateful for that and Fall! :)
